Sounds good!

What?

Our band brought musical joy to charity events held at school! Also, we recorded an album of our greatest hits to raise 610.19€ through the sale of 175 CDs inside the school for “Coeur des Anges”! This charity helps kids in hospital fulfil a dream (like meeting a famous actor or musician).

Who?

Vianney Guibourg, webmaster, ideas man, helper, joker.

Maximilien Gidon, guitarist (Rock, Blues, Punk), recorded the songs and helped compose them too.

Robin Dambreville, drummer, also wrote lyrics.

Gautier Monteilhet, pianist.

Clément Quieros, guitarist (Rock, Pop, Jazz), took part in the CD’s preparation.

Lucas Boutignon, pianist.

Thomas Fabre, webmaster.

Stéphane Petrousek, pianist, kept the group positive.

Pierre-Alexandre Gidon, guitar and bass, he tok part in the recording and the concerts.

Leïla Roubertou, pianist and group manager who made sure the project went according to plan.

How it went in more detail!

October: project launched and website created by Thomas.

November: Leïla wrote a letter to the parents' association asking them for financial assistance. It enabled us to buy 200 covers and 175 CDs in February.

December: a little concert at the Christmas market in the “Foyer Lycée” during approximately three hours. The parents were pleasantly surprised.

January: During the three following months, we created our own Sounds Good music for the CD. That part was very difficult because we had to invent the music, the lyrics and to find a singer. Step by step we managed to find a good melody and rhythm. We recorded all the music for the CD thanks to Maximilien’s recorder. We counted around 100 students interested in byuing our CD during a survey.

March: Stéphane and Clément played during school open doors for the “Cityzen Project” group.

May: the busiest month of all. We recorded all the musics for the CD. Then, Leïla created posters to let people know that we were close to being able to sell the CDs. With Stéphane, she posted them everywhere in the school. Later, Leïla reserved the computer room and with Maximilien, Pierre-Alexandre, Clément, Thomas and the help of some friends, we managed to burn the 175 CDs in a bit more than one hour. That’s was a real challenge!

June: Leïla prepared all the CD covers and t-shirts printed with Sounds Good logo. Then we sold all the CDs and raised funds for the association.

July: we sent the cheque. Two weeks later we received a thank you letter!

Cityzen photo project

The CityZen Project

Hey! We are always saying that the city is noisy and stressful… But are you sure about that? We are 5 young students from Massillon who think that, if you search a little, you could find some pretty “Zen” locations in our city. So, if you see, while walking in the city, a quiet and peaceful place, just take a picture of it with your mobile phone or your camera and send it to us! If it looks great, we will publish it on our website and maybe you will win a price! Good Luck!

What?
Our project is pretty simple:

  • Our schoolmates take photos of “Zen” locations in the city: it’s places where you can relax, read a book, feed the birds…
  • Then, they send the photos to us and we publish them on our website: www.thecityzenproject.tumblr.com.
  • The best photos will be shown on a screen in “La Vie Scolaire”.
  • We will contact two photographers so as to interest students in photography. In order to thank them, we will make an exhibition of their own pictures and we will sell them.
  • We have also planned two other events with the students’ “Zen” photos: one during the school “Open Day” on March and the other at the end of the year on May or June.
  • During the last exhibition, we will reward the best photographers with a price.

Why?
We think this project could be interesting because everyone can contribute and it’s not boring for us. We want a project which would allow us to communicate with a lot of people, so it’s perfect. But how does this project answer to the theme of citizenship besides the pun?
First, we are here to promote the city and its positive aspects.
Moreover, this project connects people around a same idea, making it very sociable.

How?
In order to have people helping us, we will create posters, engage the classes and send e-mails to the students. Then, they will be able to send us easily their pictures: we have included a form in our website where the students give their name, their e-mail, post their photos and the reason why they have taken it. We’ll receive the photos at a special e-mail address, we select the ones which best answer the “Zenship” and publish them on our website. We will also use Twitter and Facebook to promote our project.
For the screen in “La Vie Scolaire”, M. Choco has said he might have a computer for us in February but we could also buy it.
For the exhibitions, we think the best would be to have it at the library.

Who?
We have divided the work in 3 big themes: Communication, Relationships, and E-Management. Of course, it’s just an indication and we will help each other.

  • Gabriele, our Director. He will run the technical part of communication (Twitter, poster design…). He is smart, loves schemas and knows all about technologies.
  • Julien, our Communication Director. When we’ll need someone to talk to a class or to a very nice DNL teacher, he will be the man for the job. He will also write our diary.
  • Côme, our Relationship Director. He will talk to Massillon’s management, “La Vie Scolaire”, Mrs. Pegarre, the photographers…. He is a resourceful guy, with a lot of ideas while always staying realistic.
  • Romain, our E-Management Director. He will pre-select the good pictures before we choose the great ones. He doesn’t like spotlights and prefers hard work. He is always there for us.
  • Anaël, our X Factor. He will write the comments of every photo, help Romain in E-Management and Côme in relationship. He is a little bit our mascot as he is always zen.

When?
Here, you have the skeleton of our year. For more details, just go there: http://cl.ly/LKuz
December: we’ll start to take some photos to show our expectations to the students, we’ll do some advertising and launch our website on 12/12/12.
January: we’ll contact the photographers and begin the selection of the first photos.
February: we’ll have the photographers’ exhibition.
March: we’ll have the “Cityzen” exhibition.
April: we’ll prepare the last exhibition and the verbal presentation.
May: we’ll have the final exhibition and we’ll reward the best photos.

Thank you for reading our project and don’t forget to take “Zen” photos!
